Captain Marvel’s First Screening Reaction Puts The Spotlight On Surprising Character

Captain Marvel is Marvel Studio's first film of the year and with the female-led comic book movie set for release this March, it comes as no surprise to hear that early reviews for the film have finally made their way online.

Industry insider Steve Weintraub just recently revealed how Captain Marvel's first advanced screening already took place. The early reactions to Marvel's first female-led standalone movie don't give away too many details about the highly anticipated comic book movie, though they do praise a specific character in the film – Carol Danvers' (Brie Larson) cat, Goose.

"Hearing Captain Marvel screened," Weintraub said in a post on Twitter. "After it ended everyone was talking about the cat. Stole the show."

A cat stealing the show might not really be an indication of whether or not Captain Marvel failed or succeeded to impress fans, but at least the industry insider still seems hyped for Carol Danvers' upcoming debut.

"Must. See.This.Movie.Stat," Weintraub wrote on his post.

Seeing Weintraub hype is reassuring. Who would be excited about a terrible film? Not us, that's for sure.

For those who aren't familiar with Goose, the cat is based on a key character in Captain Marvel's comic book series. In the comics, Carol's cat goes by the name of Chewie and is unsurprisingly, an extraordinary pet that can fight with monstrous tentacles. Chewie is the last surviving member of the Flerkens, an alien race that's known for laying a whole lot of eggs. Aside from its reproductive ability, one of the defining features of the Flerken are the pocket dimensions hidden inside themselves that allow travel through both space and time – something that fans expect could help Captain Marvel and the others in Avengers: Endgame.

Captain Marvel premieres March 8, 2019.
