Captain Marvel Star Ben Mendelsohn Says Talos was Supposed to be Killed in MCU Flick

There is little doubt that Ben Mendelsohn is an amazing actor who continues to astound people with his compelling performances. However, there was a time when his character was almost killed off pretty early in one of his most popular films. Mendelsohn has just revealed that Talos was supposed to get written off immediately in Captain Marvel. However, that may have been changed when he was confirmed for the role.

Mendelsohn recently spoke to NME where he admitted that being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe "truly exceeded my expectations." The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actor also confirmed that the original script for Captain Marvel had Talos being killed off right away.

"[Talos] was gonna die at around page 60 [in the script] originally and he survived that, so he's done pretty well," Mendelsohn said. However, he also stated that he would have been happy to reprise the role if he was asked.

"If that f--king shapeshifter rears his ugly head again, I'll do my best to be inside it," Mendelsohn added.

Luckily, Talos was given a bigger and more important role in Captain Marvel and would go on to appear in the Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits scene. Although it was a small cameo, it also teased on the Skrulls being a huge part of the MCU in the future. With that in mind, we're hoping to see more of Mendelsohn in more Marvel films soon.

Mendelsohn's most recent project was the HBO series The Outsider which premiered in January.
