When Marvel initially announced the newest superhero to be included in the Captain Marvel comics as well as have its own series back in October, fans were happy about the news since Star is said to have received great response considering she's a new character. However, it seems like sales for Captain Marvel comics aren't performing as well as they'd hope.

Sales for the September issue, Captain Marvel #10, had 27,498 issues sold. Compared to August's sales, which was 37,888, there's a significant drop of over 27%. The drop in numbers shows that Captain Marvel #9 was anticipated by many readers since other issues had almost the same number of sales from each other.

The increase in sales for the August issue suggests that people only bought that particular one just because the new character, Star, had her first major appearance in the comics. It looked like the people who bought Captain Marvel #9 weren't actually in it for the character (via Cosmic Book News), and just wanted to know about the new character and are only interested in her part of the story of the entire series.

The outlet also points out that Marvel is trying to "keep the series afloat" with other Solicits to be released where stories are taken into a different and much darker direction. Cosmic Book News described the series as being "on life support" since Marvel is taking popular characters, making them darker, and just making multiple covers for the titles.

For now, Captain Marvel's Star is going to have her own series to be written by Kelly Thompson and is set to release around January 2020.
