It's been a while since Marvel released Brie Larson's first standalone Captain Marvel movie. Now, with Avengers: Endgame come and gone, it looks like the guys at Screen Junkies have decided to take a shot at Carol Danvers with a new Honest Trailer of Captain Marvel.
The Honest Trailer lasts for about four minutes, and starts with commentary on the Stan Lee cameos in the opening of the movie. "Awww, you're going to make me cry, we haven't even started yet." According to the trailer Captain Marvel is a snarky flying girl with the power of spaceship who likes to keep everything in neutral – ironic because Carol is barely emotional in the film. The video also takes shots at other things in the film like the "formula" that most films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seem to use as well as Captain Marvel's over use of 1990s reference.
The trailer isn't as funny as most Honest Trailers, but it does give us decent critiques about the movie. Honestly speaking, Captain Marvel really doesn't add much to the franchise if the film's supposed to be the meat in between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. But it is a "solid watch" if it's compared to other Marvel origin films, Citizen Kane, and "female-led superhero movies not named Wonder Woman."
"Look out boys, at this rate lady heroes are going to take over, never," Honest Trailer deems, reminding everyone that male-led superhero movies outnumber female-led ones by 61 to 6.
It's a pretty balanced Honest Trailer, though it's less humorous than usual. What do you think of Captain Marvel?
Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
