Just when Marvel fans thought that Avengers: Endgame would have marked the final farewell of Chris Evans as Captain America, news broke out last January that the actor will be restarting his journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an undisclosed project. Deadline reported that Evans and Marvel Studios were in negotiations for the actor's new MCU deal but all parties involved declined to give a proper comment regarding the rumor.

Naturally, MCU diehards quickly theorized and a lot of them assumed that Evans could end up appearing in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and come back as his "regular" self although that one remains to be seen. Last November, we reported that Marvel Studios is working on a "secret" Captain America spin-off project that wasn't announced during Disney's Investor Day and the said project could be centered on the Nomad character.

Now, ahead of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's release, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is breaking his silence for the very first time amid the rumors of Chris' potential comeback to the billion-dollar franchise. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly (via ScreenRant), Feige immediately dismissed the reports and said Evans is not returning to the fold. "I rarely answer no to anything anymore because things are always surprising me with what happens, but that rumor, I think, was dispelled rather quickly by the man himself," he said.

Feige's claim seems extremely weird, not to mention suspicious because a source like a Deadline is normally reliable. In fact, Marvel Studios have oftentimes relied on them to spread breaking news concerning the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, I'm not saying Feige isn't telling the truth but considering his history of playing coy about certain matters, I wouldn't be surprised if he's just trying to keep everything under wraps.

Meanwhile, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hits Disney+ this Friday.
