Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain America’s emotional departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was undoubtedly one of the most important events that happened in Avengers: Endgame.

However, if you think about it, while the world knew about Iron Man’s heroic sacrifice, did anyone else outside the Avengers who fought against Thanos know what really happened to Captain America after the battle?

To give you a little recap, when half of the universe got wiped out of existence thanks to Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, the six original Avengers managed to stay alive as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

But was that really enough to keep the Mad Titan from causing any more chaos?

The Avengers confronted Thanos on how they could possibly bring back half of the population from ashes, but the Mad Titan revealed he had already destroyed the Infinity Stones, making the Gauntlet useless.

This led Thor to aim for the head.

Eventually, though, the Avengers, the smartest ones anyway, Bruce Banner and Scott Lang managed to convince Tony Stark to return and work on a little time machine where they could place the stones back in the past in hopes of changing the present.

Of all the Avengers, only Steve Rogers had had his regrets. Even though they won in bringing back the people, he went and returned to the past just to be with Peggy, his one true love.

This led to consequences, of course. Instead of being the Super Soldier Captain America we have known him to be, he returned to the present as the older Steve Rogers, who passed down his shield to Sam Wilson aka Falcon.

Considering that the Avengers were Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, a world without Cap wouldn’t make sense, even though he went against signing the Sokovia Accords. So, what does the world know about what happened to Steve after Endgame?

As one of the most controversial decisions ever made in the MCU, diehards continue to ramble about how Steve shouldn’t have chosen to stay in the past to be with Peggy Carter.

For others, it was the perfect sendoff to Cap and welcome Sam as the new Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.

Like it or not, Marvel had to figure out a way to retire Cap’s story from the MCU and this was the best way to do it. So, how does the world in the MCU reality feel? Do they even know that Cap has grown old?

The Disney Plus series pretty much established that the original Captain America is dead now, given that Sam even went to give a speech at his alleged funeral, which passes on the legacy to the Falcon for the position.

Sam’s words also confirmed that Cap didn’t return alive from battle, which would brush off any possible plotholes from the citizens in thinking he was still alive.

If you think about it, Steve Rogers leaving the Avengers for years just because of their disagreement over signing the Sokovia Accords would render his status as one of Earth’s Greatest Defenders null and void.

As a part of his silent agreement with Tony Stark, though, he came back to fight off with the rest of the team up against Thanos in Infinity War and Endgame, so his heroic services still yield to be unforgotten and crucial in their victory against Thanos’ snap.
