How Camilla Parker-Bowles Show She's Invested In The Royal Family
Camilla Parker-Bowles became a queen consort when King Charles took over the throne following Queen Elizabeth's death on Sept. 8. However, before she even began her reign as the new queen consort, she had shown she's invested in protecting the firm by "pushing out" Prince Charles' former trusted aid, Radar Online reported.
Michael Fawcett was King Charles' longtime righthand man for decades. However, he was reportedly accused of sexual assault.
Camilla had enough of him after he was accused of offering "support" to Saudi donor Mahfouz Marie Mubarak bin Mahfouz, who donated £1.5million to the former Prince of Wales's charity allegedly in exchange for securing his knighthood and British citizenship.
The incident was reportedly the last straw for Camilla. When she learned about the issue, Queen Consort Camilla allegedly demanded her husband cut ties with Fawcett for good.
"The Duchess is not keen on having anyone else in the prince's ear. She is, as far as she is concerned, the only person who should be able to convince the prince of anything," an insider revealed at the time," an anonymous source said. "She has definitely become more and more opinionated about how she disliked [Fawcett] over time. She has made it plain she didn't want him around."
Aside from the aforementioned, Fawcett was reportedly accused of accepting a hefty six-figure sum from Dmitry Leus, a Russian banker who had previously been convicted of money laundering. He was also allegedly not transparent to the ethics committee in the Princess Foundation with its multimillion-pound fundraising activities.
Fawcett had already stepped down as the chief executive of King Charles' charity. However, it wasn't good enough for Camilla.
"She will be merciless in her pursuit of Michael out of the door," a source told The Times. "She has said it is time to draw the line. This is the end of the road for Michael."
King Charles Reportedly Blew Chance To Improve Public Image
What Fawcett did in King Charles' charity tainted the latter's reputation. Finding Freedom co-author Omid Scobie said, "The incidents demonstrate a total lack of awareness of the way in which such deals were done."
"How can a senior royal believe accepting a suitcase of cash is a sensible way to fund a charity," the royal correspondent and commentator added.
"The recent news that the prince accepted €3 million from Qatar's former Prime Minister and billionaire Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani shows incredibly poor judgment given Qatar's record on human rights," Scobie wrote on Yahoo! News.
At the time, he added that the Queen's Platinum Jubilee would be King Charles' final chance to turn some of the negativity around. However, the rumors of embarrassing revelations involving him "appears to have well and truly blown it."
