Call of Duty Mobile has been a not-so-surprising success, showing fans that free-to-play shooters can be just as fun as paid ones, if not more than. The fact that it has great graphics and multiplayer is already outstanding by itself and all of these updates should make fans really happy. Unfortunately, if you're a big fan of the Zombies mode from most Call of Duty games, they will be removed from the mobile game later this month.
Despite multiple updates, the official explanation from Reddit claims that the mode just wasn't working right on mobile, hence the cancelation. The game itself is fine and will keep getting a lot of support but knowing that it won't have this fan-favorite mode anymore is going to make fans really upset. After all, some fans bought some microtransactions just to participate in this mode.
Here's the official explanation:
One of the most frequently asked questions to these updates is "what about ZOMBIES Mode?" Today, after extensive evaluation we are sharing that ZOMBIES Mode is being removed on March 25th.
We had always mentioned it was limited but with no explicit end-date. We wanted to see the reception, see the feedback, and see how we can potentially shape the mode for the future. However, the mode just didn't reach the level of quality that we desire. The second map, Nacht Der Untoten, is also not releasing in the global version.
We may bring the mode back, with Nacht Der Untoten, once we can make sure it is high enough quality, but for now we'll focus on development for Multiplayer, Battle Royale, and Ranked Mode.
Fans won't be giving up on Call of Duty Mobile right away and we can only hope that the developers bring back this fan-favorite mode, hopefully with some significant improvements. The game is now available as a free-to-play title on iOS and Android.
