Overwatch and Diablo Animated Series Seemingly Confirmed by Blizzard Co-President

Blizzard might be more Activision than, well, Blizzard these days but the studio is still home to some of the best video games out there, like Overwatch and Diablo. The company has made it clear that they want to break out and explore other entertainment mediums for some of their franchises. While not much has been said about Activision's Call of Duty movie, it looks like Blizzard's Diablo and Overwatch are actually getting new animated series' soon.

Thanks to the LinkedIn of Activision Blizzard Co-President Nick Van Dyk, we now know that these two properties are getting animated shows. If that wasn't cool enough, the hotly rumored Diablo anime rumor looks to be legitimate as Van Dyk's profile describes the series as "rendered in anime style," which could be similar to Konami's acclaimed Castlevania anime on Netflix.

We aren't sure about the animation style of Overwatch, though fans would be fine with the CG used for the game's well-made shorts. These animated shorts have actually done a lot to give these characters some actual, well, character, which is something that the first-person shooter can't do. Sorry people that play Overwatch, you know I'm right.

No release date for the Overwatch animated series or the Diablo anime has been revealed. In the meantime, Overwatch and Diablo 3 are available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
