Unlike the previous seasons, Fall 23 did not have much in the way of anime delays for its biggest titles. That doesn’t mean all shows aired smoothly though. Recently, it was revealed that Butareba Episode 12 has been delayed until after January 2024.
The show’s 12th episode is set to be the last one of the season, and it was originally expected to be released next week.
Soon after the 11th episode aired though, it was confirmed via the show’s official X (formerly Twitter) account that Episode 12’s release had been moved until much later.
Not the First Time Butareba Got Delayed
Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned Into a Pig is a Fall 23 isekai that has been overshadowed by the season’s big new shows like Frieren and The Apothecary Diaries.
Among the season’s isekai titles, it also got less attention compared to The Eminence in Shadow Season 2.
It doesn’t help that its premise of a man turning into a pig is reminiscent of the controversial My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog.
This series is far from an ecchi anime though. Instead, it follows a man who turns into a pig in another world. There, he meets Jess, a girl who can read minds.
The anime aired without any delays during its initial run. That was the case until early December as its ninth episode was delayed by one week. It was said that the delay was done to keep the show’s quality high.
Sadly, this isekai anime has been hit with another delay. This time, it will be much longer as it would take a month for the new episode to be released at the earliest.

Butareba Episode 12 Delayed, to Be Released in February at the Earliest
On the show’s official X account, it was revealed that Butareba Episode 12 will be released after January 2024 due to programming issues.
This means the previous delay affected the broadcast instead of the show’s production struggling to keep up.
Because of this, the 12th episode’s release will be in February 2024 at the earliest, though it may be released later if the programming issue isn’t fixed.
For now, fans will have to wait for an official release announcement, which may take a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, those who have yet to see the show’s first 11 episodes can watch Butareba right now on Crunchyroll in the US and other select regions.
