BTS Beats Destiny's Child After Historic Billboard Music Awards Win

BTS made an impressive record at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).

Last month, the BBMA’s agency confirmed that the K-pop supergroup garnered seven nominations from six different categories. That alone made them become the K-pop group with the most nominations.

The six categories it dominated include Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Billboard Global Artist (Excluding U.S.), Top Selling Song, Top Billboard Global Song (Excluding U.S.), and Top Rock Song.

Following the ceremony on Sunday, BTS officially beat Destiny’s Child by a new record.

BTS Dominates 2022 Billboard Music Awards

On Sunday, the 2022 Billboard Music Awards confirmed that the K-pop supergroup won three out of the seven nominations they received.

For this year, BTS won Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song. The latter award is for their hit song, Butter, leading them to their second consecutive year of winning the recognition.

During last year’s BBMAs, the septet won four major awards: Top Selling Song, Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and the fan-voted Top Social Artist.

Since 2017, BTS has been bringing home BBMAs trophies. With that, the group beat Destiny’s Child in having the most Billboard Music Awards wins in history. They managed to break the American girl group’s record, 11 years, after being undefeated for 17 years.

BTS Member Suga Also Conquering Local Music Show

Aside from BTS, their member – Suga – recently scored victory after his and PSY’s song, That That, won first place on Inkigayo.

On Sunday, as well, the SBS music show welcomed performances from PSY & Suga, IVE, (G)I-DLE, CLASS:y, TXT, T1419, Hwayeon, YOUNITE, EPEX, Jeong Sewoon, KB, LE SSERAFIM, VERIVERY, Ciipher, ICHILLIN’, iKON, ALICE, and WOODZ (Cho Seung Youn).

PSY and Suga won the first place, while IVE and (G)I-DLE secured second and third places with LOVE DIVE and TOMBOY, respectively.
