The nominees for the People’s Choice Awards this year include the biggest K-pop groups in their generation: BTS and BLACKPINK.

The annual People’s Choice Awards opened the voting process again for this year’s ceremony. The award-giving body has been recognizing people in the entertainment industry since its establishment in 1975.

For the 2022 event, Kenan Thompson will return as the host for the second time around.

Before the December 6 telecast, the People’s Choice Awards revealed that BTS, BLACKPINK, and Jungkook make history by appearing in the list of nominees.

BTS, BLACKPINK Nominated at People’s Choice Awards

Multiple news outlets, including EW, shared the list of nominees for the 2022 People’s Choice Awards after the organization announced it. Among the nominees, BTS and BLACKPINK dominated the list once again.

The HYBE K-pop supergroup got nominated in three categories: The Group of 2022, The Music Video of 2022 for its Yet To Come music video, and The Concert Tour of 2022 for BTS’ Permission To Dance on Stage. Its youngest member, Jungkook, was nominated in two categories: The Music Video of 2022 and The Collaboration Song of 2022.

BTS won in three categories last year, including the Best Group of the Year.

As for BLACKPINK, the girl group is competing to win The Music Video of 2022 and The Collaboration Song of 2022 for Pink Venom.

BTS, BLACKPINK Also Conquered MTV EMA 2022's List of Nominees

Both K-pop groups also made history at the MTV EMA 2022 after it unveiled the nominees’ list.

BLACKPINK ultimately became the first K-pop act in history to be nominated for Best Video due to the official music video of its hit single, Pink Venom. It will compete against Harry Style's As It was, Taylor Swift's All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version), Doja Cat's Woman, Nicki Minaj's Super Freaky Girl, and Kendrick Lamar's The Heart Part 5.

It also scored a spot in the Biggest Fans, Best Metaverse Performance, and Best K-Pop categories.

BTS has been nominated for Biggest Fans, Best Metaverse Performance, and Best K-pop, while SEVENTEEN is up to bring home the Best New, Best Push, and Best K-Pop.
