Brie Larson Says Marvel Was Patient When She Was Unsure About Becoming Carol Danvers

Fans might have been waiting for a Captain Marvel movie for years, but Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson has nothing but good things to say about Marvel after the studio decided to give her some time to decide whether or not she wanted to suit up and join the superhero ring by playing Carol Danvers.

Speaking in an interview with the Associated Press during the Women In Film Crystal +Lucy Awards, Larson remembers how she had a few doubts before deciding to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel.

"There's a lot about it that felt like a big decision and it's not just a big decision for myself, it's a big decision for my family and my partner and for my friends," the actress explained. "It's a big change for everybody and I wasn't sure if it was the right thing for me."

According to Larson, Marvel was "super patient" with her, allowing her " a lot of time to think over and then once I felt like I had made the right decision which was doing it I got both feet in and I'm really happy."

Of course, Marvel wouldn't want to force Larson to play the part. After all, the studio wouldn't want to have a Ben Affleck situation on its hands. Not only is Captain Marvel the very first female-led superhero film in the MCU, but rumor has it that Carol Danvers is going to be made the new face of the franchise after her debut in the film and after Avengers 4 next year.

There's certainly a whole lot riding on Captain Marvel's debut and we can't wait till the film makes its premiere on March 8, 2019.
