Captain Marvel might have been celebrated for being Marvel Studios' very first female-led comic book movie, however, the film found itself bogged down by trolls who believe that Marvel was simply pushing the feminist agenda forward by giving Carol Danvers her own movie.
Speaking in a recent interview with Variety,Captain Marvel star Brie Larson was asked what she thought of the toxic fandom that trolled her very first standalone movie as the Earth's strongest Avenger. Trolls might have affected the film's Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, but Larson says that she doesn't really let the negativity faze her.
"I don't have time for it, you know? The things that I have extra time to really look at are, like: Am I eating healthy food? Am I drinking water? Am I meditating? Have I called my mom today?" the actress explained, "More recently, I guess maybe it's because of Captain Marvel, I've had a lot of journalists be, like, ‘How often do Google yourself?' I'm, like, "I've never Googled myself."
It's good to see Larson taking everything in stride. It isn't easy when toxic fans go out of the way to personally attack you. The negativity can take a toll on mental health. Take a look at what toxic fans have done to Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran. The Star Wars: The Last Jedi star had to leave social media because of the intensity of the bullying she received from toxic fans.
