Breaking Bad Creator Vince Gilligan Confirms Walter White is Dead

It's been years since Breaking Bad has ended, but until now, a lot of fans still believe that Walter White actually survived by the end of the finale. Too bad though, because series creator Vince Gilligan has confirmed that Heisenberg is indeed dead.

Taking during The Rich Eisen Show (via Esquire), Gilligan was asked about the fate of Walter White, to which he replies, "Yeah, I'm gonna give you that one, Rich because I love you so much… Yes, Walter White is dead. Yes."

Ever since the show ended, Gilligan has also been very coy when it comes to the fate of Walter after the finale. Some fans even think there was time for the SWAT team to save him, therefore bringing him in and letting Walt face justice. With El Camino though, I guess they have to give us confirmation whether Walt survived or not, and now we have the answer.

Though Walt is dead, I still expect him to have some kind of presence in El Camino. After all, Jesse was his partner, but after a rewatch of the show, you can kind of see how the two slowly had their falling out. It would be interesting to see how Jesse plans to move forward. Sure he's free from the White Supremacists, but he still has nothing and nobody to go to.

Hopefully, El Camino gives is a satisfying epilogue to Breaking Bad (and hopefully a neat teaser for the next season of Better Call Saul).

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie comes out Oct. 11.
