Brain Works Episode 3 Recap

Brain Works Episode 3 sees Cha Tae Hyun and Jung Yonghwa struggling to track down the real culprit related to the burned body of a Vietnamese woman.

After seeing the published article that compliments Geum Myung-Se, Shin Haru felt embarrassed and wanted to exploit the “corruption” of the detective. Contrary to his assumption, Geum Myung-Se took out loans instead for the cart bar owner, who was unable to borrow money due to his status as an ex-convict. He did good deeds by making him pay back the money little by little.

Shin Haru wanted to give Geum Myung-Se’s career a blow but it turned out that he only made him popular as a good-natured cop.

Cha Tae Hyun And Jung Yonghwa Investigate The Confusing Case In Brain Works Episode 3

While the identity of the burned body was confirmed as a Vietnamese woman through DNA and a relative’s confirmation, Shin Haru thought that there is something fishy about the investigation. The duo subsequently summoned Tuong’s husband, Lee Jong-Gu, but he defended himself by saying that he is incapable of doing such a gruesome deed as he couldn’t recognize his wife’s face.

Shin Haru had an initial suspicion that he might be suffering from a mental disorder that causes a person to have difficulty recognizing someone’s face. It turns out that his speculation was right, so Lee Jong-Gu was released.

Geum Myung-Se proposed going to the furniture factory to continue their investigation. Shin Haru left him to meet the Vietnamese workers alone and purposely taught him offensive Vietnamese phrases to annoy him.

Later, while Geum Myung-Se was chasing a fleeing witness, Shin Haru used a taser gun to help the arrest.

Meanwhile, Seol So-Jeong started an investigation in the furniture factory after discovering suspicious things about the case. However, as soon as she attempted to report back to her teammates, she collapsed and had a nail stuck in her forehead. She was unconscious, but Shin Haru thought of a way to connect with her.

In the end, they confirmed that the burned body was not Tuong but Huai, her friend and colleague. Shin Haru and Geum Myung-Se visited Lee Jong-Gu’s house to secure Tuong’s DNA when they found a suspicious freezer. They went inside and did an investigation but ended up being trapped inside.

Geum Myung-Se tried to knock on the door and shout for help, but Shin Haru recalled trauma from the repetitive sound. He eventually exploded and had a fierce physical fight with the detective.

Fortunately, they got tired of attacking each other, and it was the first time Shin Haru had opened up about a traumatic event to him. It turns out that Shin Haru had a trauma when he was in kindergarten after a car accident of some sort.

Moreover, at the end of the day, the two quarrelled but eventually hugged each other tightly to live, causing a comical sense in the scene.
