Bradley Cooper On The Possibility Of Taking Over Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's directorial seat might still be empty while Marvel's busy campaigning for Captain Marvel, but it looks like Bradley Cooper doesn't want to have anything to do with directing the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Cooper might have just received critical acclaim for his directorial debut, A Star Is Born, a musical romantic drama starring himself and musical icon Lady Gaga, but the filmmaker doesn't think he's ready to take on a project as big as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Speaking in an interview with JOE, Cooper said that he wouldn't be able to direct the third Guardians installment even if Disney asked him too. First of all, Cooper's already busy playing Marvel's wildly witty "triangle-faced monkey," Rocket Racoon. Second of all, while some fans might assume that he'd be a great candidate to take over James Gunn's place as director of GOTG 3, the filmmaker says that he just couldn't work on the project that easily.

"In directing it?", Cooper responded when asked about the possibility of taking over Guardians 3. "I could never direct anything that I didn't write. No, I could never direct anything that I didn't write."

Back in July, Gunn was fired by Disney because of a smear campaign that brought back a couple of insensitive and inappropriate tweets that the director had made more than a decade ago. The firing stirred quite a controversy, and while many fans and Hollywood celebrities came to Gunn's defense, Disney saying it wouldn't bring Gunn back.

Now it looks like the seat is going to have to remain empty for a while.
