Booster Gold Finally Getting His Own DCU Project

Prior to the unveiling of the first slate of the new DCU franchise, a lot of fans have been clamoring for DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran to include Booster Gold in their plans, especially considering that the character has never appeared on the big screen before.

In addition, some fans are also suggesting Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt as the actor who can take on the role, especially after Gunn said that he is open to working with some of the Guardians of the Galaxy actors in his new post in DC Studios.

As reported by Variety, during yesterday's official unveiling of the first DCU slate, Gunn and Safran revealed that they are developing a Booster Gold series for HBO Max as part of the franchise's first chapter titled "Gods and Monsters."

In their announcement, Safran described the hero as "a loser from the future who uses basic future technology to come back to today and pretend to be a superhero."

"Basically, Booster Gold is imposter syndrome as a superhero," Gunn also added.

Booster Gold made his debut in the comics back in 1986 and he went on to become a fan-favorite character. He has been portrayed in live-action before in Smallville where he was played by Eric Martsolf and appeared in the final episode of Legends of Tomorrow where he was played by Donald Faison.

The news was met with delight and excitement from fans since Gunn and Safran are finally making it happen and they're going to give him his own solo project. It is curious to see what they have in store for his DCU appearance and whether the series will lean a lot into comedy considering the type of character he is.

Not only that, but fans are also waiting to find out which actors they will cast to play the role and whether Gunn will consider Pratt for the role, which is an idea that some fans have been holding on to prior to this announcement.
