It has been four months now since the anime’s first season ended, but Bocchi the Rock! continues to be a huge hit as its latest home release sales number confirmed that over 100k Blu-rays have been sold.
Recently, Volume 5 of the show’s Blu-ray release came out, and it quickly ranked as one of the best-selling anime Blu-rays of the week with over 20,000 copies sold.
This continues the trend of the previous Bocchi the Rock! Blu-ray releases that also had impressive sales numbers.
Bocchi the Rock! Blu-ray Sales Continue to Impress
The first Blu-ray/DVD volume was released in December 2022. Given the show’s popularity during the Fall 2022 season, Volume 1 sold a lot of copies during its first week.
As it stands now, Volume 1 has sold more than 26,000 copies. Since then, the other volume releases have gotten over 20,000 copies sold as well.
Even the fifth Blu-ray/DVD volume did not stop the trend as it sold over 20,000 copies after just one week.
In total, the series has sold over 109,000 Blu-ray/DVD copies to date (according to data shared by @Nakayasee).
This is a seriously impressive feat, especially when compared to Blu-ray sales of other anime.
For instance, Chainsaw Man is reported to have low Blu-ray sales. Meanwhile, Bleach: TYBW Volume 1 had just 2,586 copies sold in its first week.
Of course, these aren’t the fairest comparisons given that many believe Bocchi the Rock!'s fanbase is exactly the group that buys anime Blu-rays.
Plus, the show’s Blu-ray releases only include two episodes per volume, thus inflating the numbers a bit.

Bocchi’s Success Should Mean Season 2 Will Happen
Even if the multiple-volume release strategy artificially inflates the numbers, the fact that the Blu-rays continue to have high sales numbers means the anime is all but confirmed to get a second season.
If the Blu-ray sales aren’t enough to convince, a new single will also be released this May, which will be celebrated with a live Bocchi concert that’s happening in Tokyo.
Given these events and the Blu-ray sales, fans expect that a second season announcement will be made sometime soon, hopefully during or after the concert.
If it does get announced sometime this year, fans will still likely have to wait a while.
As such, Bocchi the Rock! Season 2 will most likely be released in 2024 at the earliest.
