BoA Reflects on Becoming Part of GOT The Beat

BoA, as a longtime K-music performer, added a new flavor to GOT The Beat.

If SM Entertainment has an ace card, it would definitely be BoA as the soloist has been one of the most influential Korean singers in the world. Due to her decades-old experience, she earned the title Queen of K-pop following her debut in August 2000.

So far, she has already released 20 studio albums – 10 of which are in Korean, nine in Japanese, and one in English. She expanded her career by becoming part of several reality shows, including K-pop Star, Listen to Love, and The Voice of Korea.

Despite her long list of accolades and experiences, BoA reportedly found it hard to accept that she made it to SM Entertainment’s new project girl group.

BoA Shares Thoughts After Joining GOT The Beat

BoA recently sat down for an interview with Billboard alongside the members of GOT The Beat – Girls’ Generations Taeyeon and Hyoyeon; Red Velvet’s Seulgi and Wendy; and aespa’s Karina and Winter.

Elsewhere in the conversation, BoA said she did not know why she was there and how she made it to the group. Still, she feels grateful, especially since she got the chance to work with great dancers and singers.

“I don’t know why I am there. But I was very happy to be part of this project,” she said.

Despite her skills, she reportedly found it hard to work in a group since she is used to being in the middle at all times. But with the success of GOT The Beat and the members’ commendable talents, BoA eventually embraced her new career.

aespa Members Worried About Working With A-Listers

aespa members Winter and Karina were nervous about working and performing with their seniors.

Per Winter, other GOT The Beat members to have more experience than them. In comparison, BoA debuted before they were even born. Meanwhile, the Girls’ Generation debuted nearly 15 years ago.

But despite her worries, older members reportedly helped her and Winter when they began practicing. Karina shared the same thoughts and revealed they got closer through the project.

“We were able to talk a lot during break times, and I received some great advice from the members. Recently, we started a group chat where we’d share bits of our daily lives as well,” she went on.

GOT The Beat is yet to announce their next project, but the group would surely score another win from a music show soon.
