Netflix's Blonde will be retelling the story in a different perspective with Ana De Armas as Marilyn Monroe in a biopic based on the novel of Joyce Carol Oates. Prior to its arrival on the streaming platform, it will have a theatrical release in select cinemas as part of the Venice Film Festival.

Her life may look at lot like glitz and glamour but behind the curtains, who is Marilyn Monroe? The controversial film of Andrew Dominik, Blonde, on Netflix will be participating on this year's Venice Film Festival alongside Netflix's White Noise, Bardo, and Athena.

That being said, Netflix's Blonde will get its in-competition premiere on September 8th for the 79th Venice Film Festival. In the US, Blonde will arrive in theaters on September 16th at the Paris Theatre and in select cinemas in the US and the UK on September 23rd.

Venice Festival Director Alberto Barbera explains to The Hollywood Reporter having four Netflix films on the list, "Netflix has become one of the biggest production companies for quality films. They invest a lot in producing movies from the most reputable filmmakers of the moment."

Netflix's Blonde is initially slated to release on the streaming platform on September 23rd but its has been later confirmed that it will be delayed for almost a week, releasing on September 28th, instead, as confirmed on Instagram by Ana De Armas herself.

Netflix's Blonde will follow the story of the famous Marilyn Monroe or Norma Jeane Mortensen in real life as she became a Hollywood actress in the 50s and 60s. It tackles the issues of the actress from love, exploitation, addiction, to abuse of power that she experienced in her life behind the screens.

Netflix's Blonde is the first movie on the streaming platform to get an NC-17 rating. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Joyce Carol Oates which laid down the private life of Marilyn Monroe in a fiction which has sensitive topics like drug abuse, abortion, graphic sex, and more.

Netflix's Blonde releases on the streaming platform on September 28, 2022.
