Marvel's Blade Reportedly Making Massive Changes to the Script

The production of the MCU reboot of Blade has experienced a lot of ups and downs including the exit of the original director Bassim Tariq which resulted in pushing its production date to this year. Fortunately, soon after, a new director was hired to steer the ship forward again, and hopefully, things will work out this time around.

So far, we haven't heard a lot of major updates regarding the project as it is nearing its planned production start in just several weeks. Fans are starting to wonder whether there is behind-the-scenes trouble again or the team is just deep into pre-production and they are not willing to make any announcements yet.

Reporter Jeff Sneider recently shared on The Hot Mic podcast some behind-the-scenes intel on the pre-production of Blade where he revealed that he heard from sources that "things have gotten a little bit better" on the project and they made some massive changes to its script.

"Someone reached out to say that with Blade. Things have gotten a little bit better. Things have shaped up, the script is leaner and meaner and they cut out the fat, but the script I heard about was like 87 pages, like there wasn't enough and they'd shaved it to the bone," he said.

Sneider also claimed that the "fat" that was removed from the script is the film's connection to Eternals, particularly to Kit Harington's Dane Whitman/Black Night, which was teased in the post-credits scene.

"What they'd cut out I heard is that Blade was gonna tie in with Eternals and Kit Harrington's Black Knight," the reporter explained. "Black Knight's not really involved in the Blade thing anymore. They may be recasting a few parts including maybe the daughter, was there like a 14-year-old girl? They may recast that."

Based on this scoop from Sneider, it sounds like the film is now going to be mostly a standalone story with minimal connection to the rest of the MCU. While it remains untrue whether Harington's character is no longer involved or not, it looks like they were planning to address the post-credits scene of Eternals.

It is also good to hear that production is now going smoothly again with the project, especially after the massive changes that were done and hopefully this will continue moving forward as it is heading to filming soon. We should be hearing more updates about this in the coming weeks.
