Rachel Weisz in Talks to Join Marvel’s Black Widow

Rachel Weisz had recently turned heads with her role in The Favourite, and it looks like Marvel Studios has noticed. Just in, Weisz is actually in talks to join a Phase 4 film for the MCU.

According to Variety, Weisz is still in negotiation about a role in the Black Widow movie. Nothing has been set in stone yet, but considering some A-list actors have starred in the films, Weisz wouldn't be that big of a surprise.

There aren't any details on who she plays yet, but seeing that Weisz can play someone fantastically cold and cruel (as per The Favourite), I can imagine that she's been cast as the head of the Black Widow program and is the one who has trained Natasha Romanoff to become the assassin she is.

Then again, I also loved Weisz's kooky historian in The Mummy, so we know that she can play that role as well.

After 10 years in the MCU, it's high time that Black Widow finally got the spotlight that she deserves. It's still unclear on whether this will be an origin film or have a contemporary setting, but I'm hoping that the studio does some more experimental movies after Endgame. While a lot of people are excited to see the bout with Thanos, Captain Marvel was admittedly underwhelming. I hope they try to shake things up moving forward.

Besides Weisz, the movie has just announced that they cast David Harbour from Hellboy. We don't know who he'll play yet, but I'm sure interested to see who he's going to be in the film.

No release date has been set for Black Widow.
