Black Widow Standalone Movie To Reportedly Introduce Natasha’s Successor

There are a lot of Marvel fans keeping an eye on Scarlett Johansson's upcoming Black Widow ever since Natasha's passing in Avengers: Endgame. Natasha Romanoff was one of those who sacrificed their lives in the film. Heading to Voromir together with Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow decides to jump down the mountainside so that the Avengers can get their hands on the Soul Stone and undo Thanos' Decimation.

Now fans are eagerly waiting for when they can see Black Widow again, and according to a new report by The Indepedent about the character's upcoming standalone movie, we might get to see a major shift for the hero in the film.

The Independent just recently released a report on a series of leaks about the future of the MCU, and one of those leaks includes a claim saying that Fighting with My Family and Midsommar actress Florence Pugh is set to play Yelena Belova in the upcoming Black Widow standalone.

For those who aren't familiar with the character, Yelena takes on the name Black Mantle in the comics. The character was trained in the same Red Room as Natasha Romanoff, and while the two became enemies at some point, Yelena gives up fighting with her rival at some point.

If the leak is proven true, then we might get to see the successor of the Black Widow name. If not the successor, then atleast a character closely tied to Natasha in the comics. Let's wait and see. Marvel has yet to make announcements.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
