We're learning more about Black Widow every day and it looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick is going to tie it all back to the First Avenger. The new footage from the Cate Shortland film has just confirmed a major Captain America connection.
The new footage was unveiled during the 2019 Comic Con Experience in Brazil and it offered some interesting new details about Black Widow (via Reddit). For instance, Alexei Shoskatov immediately asks about "him" in a helicopter crash scene with Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova. It becomes clear that he is asking about Cap telling war stories. Red Guardian also refers to Steve Rogers as his "geopolitical adversary."
It's an interesting scene confirming that Red Guardian had gone up against Cap in the past. But could this mean that we could see a flashback featuring Chris Evans? It seems unlikely at the moment but we're loving how Cap still plays a minor role although he has already retired in Avengers: Endgame.
The Captain America connection isn't the only thing that was revealed in the CCXP footage. There's also an awesome fight sequence between Nat and Taskmaster, who appears to be in his trademark hood. Unfortunately, the teaser has not yet been officially released but we're hoping that Marvel drops it in the next few weeks.
Black Widow will bring back Scarlett Johansson and introduce Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz into the MCU. The film is scheduled for release on May 1, 2020.
