Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Box Office Projections Finally Revealed

The upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is one of the most anticipated films this year. Not only is the MCU film a direct sequel to the 2018 blockbuster, becoming one of Marvel Studios’ biggest solo films in history, but it will be the final Phase 4 film of the MCU.

The first Black Panther film back in 2018 earned a remarkable $700 million at the domestic box office making it the current sixth-highest grossing motion picture ever released in North America. Black Panther had been in fourth place until new films such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Top Gun: Maverick broke records at the box office over the past nine months.

One of the reasons why Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is highly anticipated is because fans want to see how Marvel will move on after the death of Chadwick Boseman back in 2020. The studios decided not to recast the late Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa and will instead tell a unique story about Wakanda and introduce Namor and Atlantis in the MCU.

According to a new report from Variety, via Cinelytic (a content analytics firm), the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is predicted to gross around $423.5 million at the domestic box office. This prediction would be a $277 million drop from Black Panther and will be the eighth highest-grossing MCU movie just after Captain Marvel ($426.8 million). The projections also included $278.5 million from physical/VOD sales and $139.7 million from TV deals and SVOD.

If this projection comes true, this would mean that Wakanda Forever will be a higher box office earner than the other MCU 2022 released. Thor: Love and Thunder and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness earned around $343 million and $411.3 million, respectively.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 11, 2022.
