We already know that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is moving forward without Chadwick Boseman. And although people have already accepted that the late actor cannot return in the sequel, Daniel Kaluuya is still concerned that Boseman's absence will be a disappointment for viewers.
Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020 after a long battle against cancer and his death was a huge shock for all of his fans. Unfortunately, nobody but his family knew about Boseman's condition and because it was so sudden, there were no immediate plans to recast his character in the second Black Panther film.
Daniel Kaluuya has recently confirmed that he will not be appearing in Wakanda Forever. Still, that didn't stop him from worrying about how people will react to Black Panther 2.
"If I said anything, people would be really disappointed. That's how I feel about it. I think people will be disappointed. They don't want to be spoiled. They're surprised in whatever will happen. That's what was amazing about the first one," Kaluuya told The Hollywood Reporter.
He later suggested that Chadwick Boseman's absence in the new film will have an effect on the viewers.
"What can you say?" Kaluuya said. "Legit, and I mean that in a real sense, what can you say? Watching him do the first one, knowing what I know, knowing what everyone [now knows], you just look at him in a different stratosphere. As a character, as a human being."
Although Kaluuya and the late Chadwick Boseman will not be in Wakanda Forever, most of the cast of the first film will be back in the sequel. Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett have all been confirmed to return in the movie.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will premiere in theaters on November 11, 2022.
