Black Panther Star Chadwick Boseman Throws Some Viral Shade At Green Book’s Oscar Win

Green Book ended up winning the Oscar for Best Picture during the 2019 Academy Awards, and while some were glad that the film ended up with the prize, a great many others didn't believe that the biographical drama featuring Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage) and Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) deserved the win as much as other films should.

Black Panther fans, in particular, felt that Chadwick Boseman's first standalone movie as the King of Wakanda should have gotten the crown, taking to Twitter to express outrage over the Oscar Best Picture snub. It seems like Boseman's wasn't all that eager about Green Book's Best Picture win and his reaction to the actual awarding up on stage has been making the rounds online.

Looking back at the camera as it zooms in on the Green Book team heading up on stage to receive the Best Picture award, the Black Panther star throws some subtle shade at the Academy Award's decision.

Though some might say that Green Book's dissenters are biased against the film, siding with their own candidates for the Best Picture award, there's been a whole lot of controversy over the film even beforehand. Not only has the film been heavily criticized for alleged historical inaccuracies in the movie, but the family of Mahershala Ali's character, Dr. Don Shirley, has been slamming the film for its portrayal of Shirley and his family.
