The sci-fi dystopian action K-Drama, Black Knight, came out in May 2023. Now that the six episodes of the first season are available, we can't help but look forward to the next. So when is Black Knight Season 2 release date going to be?

Here's what we know about the show's status right now.

As of this writing, there is still no announcement on whether Black Knight will be returning for a second season. This really isn't a big surprise since the complete story was told within the six episodes.

The villain in the show was brought down and the unjust hierarchy in the system was destroyed. More importantly, the government promised to improve the oxygen supply system. Not to mention, the air quality already seemed to get better. So what's still left to work on?

Right now, Black Knight has not been ordered to return for a second season. But if it does, it's possible that its release date could be in 2025.

This potential release date may be possible only if the show gets renewed in the next few months. And again, it will also depend on when the show starts production.

We'll have to update this post once the show gets renewed and more information is available.

Potential Black Knight Season 2 Story

As mentioned, Black Knight is based on a webtoon. But despite this, its story can be considered one-and-done. Even though the webtoon continues to release new pages, the Kdrama does not follow the original storyline of the webtoon.

Still, there's lots of potential for a second season, especially since the creator of the webtoon gave Director Cho the freedom to work on his own.

If the show gets renewed, it's possible that the Director could work on an angle with Ryu Seok (played by Song Seung-heon) posing as a threat. It's possible that he could have gotten a metal skeleton and the ability to heal quickly.

If he survived the explosion, he could take a while to recuperate. When he does, he will have to move quietly so that the others will not know he is still alive.

Should a second season be ordered, it would likely focus on Ryu Seok seeking revenge against 5-8, Sa-wol, and the rest. We'd also like to see the show explore more about the mutants.

Possible Black Knight Season 2 Cast

If the show gets renewed for a second season, the possible cast members to who will reprise their role include the following:

  • Kim Woo-bin as 5-8
  • Song Seung-heon as Ryu Seok
  • Kang You-seok as Yoon Sa-wol
  • Esom as Jeong Seol-ah
  • Kim Eui-sung as Gramps

Nam Kyung-eup is unlikely to return since his role as Chairman Ryu was murdered by his son. But he could return for some flashback scenes.
