Black Adam CinemaCon Footage Teases the Change in Hierarchy of Power in the DCEU

Several years after its first announcement, Black Adam is finally coming to theaters this year and, as they've teased several times, the titular character's arrival will change the hierarchy of power in the DCEU. How exactly will it change the course of the franchise moving forward? We still don't know yet at this point.

During their recent presentation at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. showed the attendees a brand new exclusive footage for Black Adam which was presented by Dwayne Johnson himself on the stage. While the footage wasn't released publicly, there were members of the press who were present and able to report on what they saw.

According to Deadline, the footage started with a shot of a spaceship flying against a snowy mountain landscape. It was followed by Pierce Brosnan's Dr. Fate, a member of the Justice Society of America, asking the titular character, "Black Adam, what are the powers that have been given to you? Loving but heartache?" Black Adam responded by saying that he was born a slave and "then I was reborn a god."

They also showed glimpses of Black Adam destroying several helicopters and came across a group of mercenaries, who were scared when they saw him catching a rocket. In the end, Aldis Hodge's Hawkman showed up to face Black Adam and said to him, "There are heroes and villains; heroes don’t kill people." However, Black Adam seemed to be unfazed as he responded, "Well, I do."

Based on the details, it looks like the film is fulfilling its promise that Black Adam is going to be a no-holds-barred type of character and its hype regarding how the hierarchy of power in the DCEU is changing. It also seemed like they were highlighting that the Justice Society of America will have a major presence in the film and they are set up as a possible enemy turned ally for the titular character.

The studio hasn't announced yet when they are going to either release the footage publicly or show the first official trailer which should happen within the next few months given that it is set to be released this coming fall. There were also reports that the film is also doing reshoots at the moment which is why the release date got delayed.
