There are only a few more days until Birds of Prey makes its debut and fans can't wait to see the all-female ensemble in action. A lot of people are particularly excited for Jurnee Smollett-Bell's portrayal of the Black Canary, given that the character is quite reluctant of showing her full abilities in the film, will fans be able to see a Black Canary spin-off in the future?

"She's a beast, but I had to really be patient and kind of like reel that in because it is an origin story," Smollett-Bell told Digital Spy, describing her character. "She's not yet there, so it was great to explore this idea of, you know, a woman who's really needing to be emancipated from a state of mind. Because she's really the one in her own way."

The actress says Black Canary is the "most powerful person" in the room, with her ability to make the iconic sonic scream, but she just chooses to hide it. "And she's very much the reluctant hero," she added.

When asked if she'd like to explore more of the character's abilities and story in a spin-off movie, Smollett-Bell said, "That would be incredible." Birds of Prey co-star Margot Robbie even joked about having a musical spin-off.

"Listen, I'm in love with Black Canary, and I'm in love with the DC world," she continued. "So you know, whatever happens with Birds of Prey, it's like I'm living the dream."

A Black Canary spin-off would certainly be a project that fans will be interested to see and while it is yet to be confirmed, fans can check out Smollett-Bell's work in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) which is set for release on February 7, 2020.
