Birds of Prey Director Stokes Controversy on Twitter

DC fans might have been excited for Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), however, the comic book movie ended up being one of the lowest-grossing movies in the DC Extended Universe with its $33 million opening and its $200 million haul.

The film was by no means a commercial success despite the positive critic and fan reviews. According to rumors that were circulating around trade sites, the first cut of Birds of Prey by Cathy Yan had done poorly with test audiences, and so Warner Brothers chief Walter Hamada had to go and fix the movie.

Yan seemingly implies that her vision for the film wasn't completed. Taking to Twitter, Yan decided to share Suicide Squad director David Ayer's post about how his film had been reshot because the tone of the film was "too dark" for the DCEU.

"I'm sorry this happened to you, David. I know the pain," Yan wrote in her retweet.

Seeing this tweet, YouTube personality and leaker Grace Randolph jumped on Yan's post saying that she was "surprised" to see that "Yan would jump on this bandwagon" knowing that Birds of Prey had been well-reviewed by critics and had a strong fan base.

She also decided to remind Yan that there were rumors going around saying that the initial plan for the film was to have Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) to go after minor-age Cassandra Cain after she had swallowed a diamond with d-ck picks – a rumor which essentially brought up pedophilia.

Yan then replied to the post, saying that Randolph had no idea what she was talking about and then reprimanded the leaker for "peddling a pedophilia rumor."

It seems like there was probably a lot going on behind the scenes of Birds of Prey. We hope the details will come out soon.
