Better Call Saul Season 5 saw the start of the fallout of Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler’s (Rhea Seehorn) relationship, along with the troubles Nacho (Michael Mando) faced. Also, the threat of Lalo Salamanca’s (Tony Dalton) revenge against Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) began without anyone knowing.

Better Call Season 5 Recap

The ten-episode season saw Jimmy/Saul Goodman becoming a corrupting influence over Kim, renewing his alliance with Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), and being the target of the cartel leader Lalo.

Gus continued expanding his drug operation, while Nacho was caught in huge danger after he failed to kill Lalo.

Mike had been reluctant to work for Gus but had no choice as he had to support and provide for his granddaughter Kaylee. As his boss’ rivalry with Lalo deepened, he gathered more evidence to help the police hunt Lalo.

However, Jimmy accused the DEA of fabricating the evidence.

Jimmy’s relationship with Howard grew for the worst. He continued to blame Howard for his brother’s death, but the latter worried more for Kim, thinking Jimmy had corrupted her integrity.

Feeling their lives were threatened, Jimmy and Kim sabotaged Howard’s case about the Sandpiper Crossing retirement community to earn settlement money for themselves.

From there, Howard began to have suspicions of Kim.

Kim started imitating Jimmy’s scheming techniques, successfully gained advantages in the Mesa Verde case, and won over difficult clients.

But despite the red flags in her relationship with Jimmy, their feelings for each other couldn’t be denied. They tied the knot in Episode 7, JMM, though their marriage was only planned to give Jimmy spousal privileges when asked about his past crimes.

In the penultimate episode, Bad Choice Road, Lalo ruthlessly questioned Kim and Jimmy. After successfully escaping his assassins, the villain decided to stay in Albuquerque, leaving only one survivor to tell Gus they had accomplished their mission to kill him.
