Batwoman Star Ruby Rose Opens Up About Struggling With Depression For Mental Health Day

It's hard to imagine that some of the people we believe are the strongest are also the ones who struggle the most. Such is the case with Batwoman star Ruby Rose, who has just opened up about dealing with depression for World Mental Health Day.

Rose shared a lengthy post on her official Instagram account where she revealed that she has struggled with mental health even as a child.

"I was first diagnosed with depression at 13, then major depressive disorder at 16. When I was 18 I found out I had Dissociative amnesia," Rose revealed. She then shared an incident where a childhood friend approached her but she couldn't recognize her former classmate.

"I found out I went from a smiling laughing child to a quiet mute who sat alone and stared off to the distance during recess after one of many traumatic events that I didn't remember. One that my mum had to tell me about but hadn't for so many years because the doctors at the time said I was too young to process what had happened and that it was for the best," Rose wrote.

"What I have learned from the struggles of mental health is just how strong I am. It's how amazing people are because they love me and support me and yet you can't judge those who don't understand and don't know how to do that either. It's that you cannot judge people at all because you can never know what they have been through," she wrote.

There is little doubt that Rose continues to struggle but is clearly doing much better these days. Hopefully, her message will reach others who struggle with mental health and help them learn how to deal with their conditions.

Batwoman airs on The CW every Sunday nights.
