With the recent release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, all eyes are now on the release of its great rival, Battlefield 2042. Originally due to be released in October, this was pushed back to try to iron out a few wrinkles. In this article, we'll tell you everything you need to know about the new Battlefield 2042 release date, and all the key information to go with it.

Battlefield 2042 Release Date

As we mentioned earlier, the release was originally scheduled for October 22nd, but this was postponed. The new release date is 19th November 2021, wherever you happen to be. That release date applies whether you are playing PC, PlayStation, or Xbox. If you were hoping for Battlefield 2042 to make an appearance on Nintendo Switch? We had to break it to you, but that's one platform that won't be seeing this game.

If you absolutely cannot wait to get your hands on this game, then you do have the option of paying for early access. If you pre-order either the Gold Edition or the Ultimate Edition, then you get early access from November 12th, which means a whole extra week of refining your skills and learning your way around the game.

What's New in Battlefield 2042?

There's plenty to look forward to in Battlefield 2042. While there is no single-player campaign mode, there are several different game modes: All-Out Warfare, which has both Conquest and Breakthrough game modes. These will support up to 128 players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Battlefield Portal allows you to revisit classics from the Battlefield back-catalog, including Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Battlefield 3. And finally, the Hazard Zone sees you join a team of four players, competing against other teams to acquire Data Drives that are scattered across the map.

As well as a variety of game modes, there is a range of new weapons, specialists, and dynamic environments to compete in. Extreme weather events are to be expected, forcing you to adapt as you go.

Battlefield 2042 has committed to releasing four seasons over the first year of the game's release. This will be accompanied by four Battle Passes and four new specialists, as well as yet to be specified new content.

And finally, cross-platform gameplay will be available, with a caveat. PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC will be able to play against one another. But PS4 and Xbox One users won't be able to join in - they can only play with others on the last generation of consoles.
