Batgirl Takes on Mr. Freeze in Gameplay for Gotham Knights

While Rocksteady has moved on from their Arkham franchise, it looks like WB Games Montreal is going to be picking up their slack. After months of speculation on what this title was going to be, we finally got our look at Gotham Knights at DC FanDome. What's great is, we also have some gameplay to go along with that cinematic trailer.

Check it out:

Get a glimpse of open-world Gotham City where Batgirl and Robin join forces to take on Mr. Freeze in one of several Villain encounters found within the city. They'll use a variety of abilities, weapons, and unique combat moves to neutralize their foes.

As you can see, Knights pretty much play out like the Arkham titles what with jumping out of bat-themed vehicles and pouncing on unsuspecting victims. What's interesting is it looks like each member of the Bat-family has their own play-style, with Batman's abilities being split among the four while at the same time each member still has their own unique fighting mechanic.

Personally, the thing I'm most excited about with this title is the story. A lot of people have wanted a Court of Owls game for a while, and while some speculated that it would be Batman taking them on, it's a whole new story when it's his ‘family' coming together to take on a foe larger than any one villain. Gameplay-wise, I think it's going to end up pretty much like Arkham: Origins, but I'm still open to the devs surprising me with what they got.

Gotham Knights is set for a release sometime in 2021.
