After getting teasers and other details over the past few months, BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- Season 2 finally has an official release date, which was revealed in the show’s latest trailer.
Aside from its release, the trailer also features lots of new scenes that give fans a better idea of what to expect in the upcoming season.
Plus, the new heavy metal songs for the second season have also been revealed, along with its unusual episode count when compared to most other anime.
BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- Season 2 Episode Count Revealed
The first season of BASTARD!! was released on Netflix in 2022 and split into two parts. The first part consisted of the first 13 episodes, all of which were made available on the platform in June 2022.
Meanwhile, Part 2 was released in September 2022, and it consisted of Episodes 14-24, thus completing the first season.
Now, the show’s official Season 2 episode count was announced alongside the action-packed new trailer, which you can watch here:
For the next season, BASTARD!! will consist of 15 episodes. This is an unusual number given that most anime seasons are 11-13 (one-cour) or 24-26 (two-cour) episodes in length.
Of course, there are some exceptions. For instance, several JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure parts are 38-39 episodes. Meanwhile, The Eminence in Shadow Season 1 featured 20 episodes.
Unlike other Netflix releases like Ultraman’s Final Season, all BASTARD!! Season 2 episodes will be released on the same day.

BASTARD!! Season 2 Gets Official Netflix Release Date
Aside from the episode count, the new songs for Season 2 were also shared.
The first is titled New Dawn by Coldrain, the Japanese rock band that also made the opening song for the anime’s first season.
Meanwhile, the ending is titled La Muse perdue by Tielle, a Japanese singer who is best known for her collaborations with renowned anime composer Hiroyuki Sawano (of Attack on Titan fame).
The next season also brings back the main voice cast from Season 1, as well as staff members from Liden Films (the studio behind Tokyo Revengers and Insomniacs After School).
BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- Season 2 will be released on Netflix worldwide on July 31, 2023.
Along with BASTARD!!, Netflix is also gearing up for the release of more anime titles this July, including Record of Ragnarok Season 2 Part 2.
