Alongside the upcoming crossover anime, Baki fans can look forward to another adaptation soon. That’s because TMS Entertainment announced that the Baki-Dou manga is getting an anime.
The announcement was made in a special screening for the Baki Hanma season 2 final episode. There, TMS Entertainment confirmed that the new anime has been decided, though it’s in its early stages right now.
As the latest Baki adaptation, some fans are wondering how this upcoming project is related to the previous anime and manga.
The Baki Manga’s Different Parts, Explained
Baki is a martial arts franchise that began as a manga by Keisuke Itagaki. The original manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion from 1991 to 1999.
Since then, the series has gotten five sequel manga, with the latest one beginning only in August 2023.
To give you a better idea of the series, here’s a rundown of the six manga parts, along with the years they were serialized and their volume counts:
- Grappler Baki – 1991 to 1999 (42 volumes)
- Baki – 1999 to 2005 (31 volumes)
- Baki Hanma – 2005 to 2012 (37 volumes)
- Baki-Dou – 2014 to 2018 (22 volumes)
- Bakidou – 2018 to 2023 (17 volumes)
- Baki Rahen – 2023 to present
While the manga has long been popular in Japan, it became more well-known internationally thanks to the anime adaptation by TMS Entertainment (of Dr. Stone and Rent-A-Girlfriend fame) and Netflix.
The first anime from TMS Entertainment consisted of 39 episodes and adapted the second manga series. Meanwhile, Baki Hanma is an adaptation of the third manga.

Baki-Dou Anime Adaptation Announced by TMS Entertainment
With the Baki Hanma anime finished, it should come as no surprise that TMS Entertainment has the next installment in the works.
The upcoming Baki-Dou anime was revealed with a special video. While it’s not a proper trailer, fans should still be happy with this announcement, as it means Baki’s journey will continue in the anime.
Making this even more exciting is the fact that Baki Hanma will also get a special crossover this year with Kengan Ashura, another popular martial arts series.

When Will the Baki-Dou Anime Premiere? Release Date Predictions
As the new anime has just been announced, it’s likely going to take a while before the anime is released.
This, coupled with the fact that the crossover anime is coming first this June means we probably won’t see Baki-Dou get released until 2025.
It’s fair to say that a mid-2025 release is the likeliest, as it’ll take time for it to be produced.
