As nominations for the Baeksang Arts Awards 2023 were announced, fans expressed their excitement to see who among the stars will bag recognition at this year’s ceremony.

Known as the Oscars of South Korea, the annual event recognized the contribution of individuals in the field of movies, tv, and theater.

Organized by Iligan Sports and JTBC Plus, the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards is set on April 28, at 5:30 p.m. KST.

The upcoming ceremony will be held at Incheon Paradise City, Incheon, and attended by top stars, renowned directors, writers, and nominees.

For this year’s event, Baeksang Arts Awards 2023 will be hosted by the lovely trio – Shin Dong Yup, Bae Suzy, and Park Bo Gum, who will return to entertain the crowd.

Interestingly, besides being the event’s host, Bae Suzy is also nominated for the Best Actress category.

Speaking of nominees, the forthcoming event gained mixed reactions as some deserving names were not included in the list.

While the competition for Best Actress is tight as five amazing stars deserve a nod, the organization failed to include two female leads who made an amazing performance in 2022.

Our Blues and Little Women managed to enter the Best Drama Awards category, unfortunately, Shin Min Ah and Kim Go Eun were not included in the Best Actress list.

For the 59th Bakesang Arts Awards, the title is between Kim Ji Won (My Liberation Notes,) Kim Hye Soo (Under the Queen's Umbrella,) Park Eun Bin (Extraordinary Attorney Woo,) Song Hye Kyo (The Glory,) and Bae Suzy (Anna.)

To recall, Shin Min Ah delivered an amazing portrayal of the city girl Min Seon Ah in Our Blues while her on-screen partner Lee Byung Hun bagged the Best Actor nod.

The omnibus-style K-drama, Our Blues, is Shin Min Ah’s next project after the hit series Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha with Kim Seon Ho.

On the other hand, Kim Go Eun who wowed the viewers with her exceptional performance as Oh In Joo in Little Women failed to get the Best Actress nomination.

Viewers witnessed how the actress could do heavy acting as seen in Little Women and the rom-com genre in Yumi’s Cells.

From the deserving stars that should be included in Best Actress for TV, viewers were surprised that Lee Je Hoon and Song Joong Ki didn't get the Best Actor nomination.

For Lee Je Hoon, this will be the second time that the actor was snubbed at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

Back in 2022, he was not included in the same category despite his jaw-dropping performance in Taxi Driver and Move to Heaven.

Meanwhile, viewers were also surprised to see Song Joong Ki’s name not included in the Best Actor category.

To recall, the South Korean heartthrob returned with a bang in K-dramaland as he played the revenge-driven Jin Do Joon in Reborn Rich.
