The episode begins with an ayakashi lurking in the shadows, staring at Suzu Kanade, who was in the midst of buying a crepe at Sakura Ranch.

Ayakashi are dangerous beasts that are invisible to humans. They are evil spirits who were born from evil humans.

However, exorcist ninjas have been exorcising ayakashi since the beginning of time.

On the sidelines, an ayakashi in the form of a flabby cat named Shirogane wants to eat Suzu.

Before Shirogane could do something dangerous to Suzu, Matsuri Kazamaki appeared to stop him.

Shirogane, unbeknownst to Matsuri, has been around for 400 years and is well-known among exorcist ninja clans.

When Suzu notices Matsuri and Shirogane bantering with each other, she decides to step in. She grabs Shirogane from Matsuri and chastises him for his behavior.

Despite Matsuri's protests, Suzu believes Shirogane is harmless.

Nonetheless, Matsuri warns Suzu about the dangers posed by the ayakashi, as they are not the type of beasts that people should get involved with.

Matsuri also attempts to prevent Suzu from taking Shirogane but is distracted by Suzu's thick legs.

Suzu kicks Matsuri, who transforms into a log as a result of his substitution jutsu.

Matsuri explains that, despite specializing in the supernatural, exorcist ninjas are still descended from ninjas.

Suzu, on the other hand, informs Matsuri that she will take Shirogane and release him somewhere safe.

She also wishes Matsuri luck, knowing that he will once again exorcise ayakashi.

Along the way, Suzu and Shirogane discuss Matsuri and his feelings toward the ayakashi.

Matsuri is Suzu's childhood friend, and they share a special bond. Unlike the other children, the two of them can see the ayakashi clearly.

They also played with them, despite the insults they received from their classmates.

However, when Suzu and Matsuri reached middle school, the latter began to change.

Matsuri, unlike before, does not want Suzu to have any involvement with the ayakashi. Suzu reveals that Matsuri inherited his grandfather's methods for destroying evil ayakashi.

In fact, it's been three years since her childhood friend became an exorcist ninja.

Matsuri uses wind techniques from the Kazamaki clan to exorcise ayakashi, such as the human-faced spider beast spirit that causes traffic in the area.

Suzu continues to rant about Matsuri at a nearby temple. She is also concerned about what will happen to their relationship now that they are in high school.

Because of this, Shirogane confirms that Suzu is in love with Matsuri, much to his disgust.

Meanwhile, Matsuri talks about Suzu with his grandfather at home.

When Matsuri mentions Shirogane's name, his grandfather tells him that Suzu is in danger and that he must go find her.

Shirogane, as it turns out, is the king of all ayakashi and knows a plethora of evil arts.

Suzu is massaging Shirogane at the time, despite the latter's confession that he is the king of ayakashi.

Shirogane then chooses to enjoy Suzu's massage because of the rich haku that coats her fingertips.

Shirogane explains to Suzu that she is an ayakashi medium with enormous amounts of life energy that attracts all types of ayakashi to human settlements.

Ayakashi mediums were once offered to powerful ayakashi because they were despised by the locals.

After all, they have no choice but to sacrifice them because they still have no means of defense against the ayakashi.

Shirogane suddenly reveals his true form in the hopes of devouring Suzu and making him stronger than ever.

Despite the danger in front of her, Suzu can only think about her relationship with Matsuri.

Not only did she confirm that Matsuri was aware of her ayakashi medium status, but she also understood why he wanted her to avoid the ayakashi.

Matsuri appears just in time to save Suzu from Shirogane. The two of them began fighting, while Shirogane got annoyed with how Suzu looked at Matsuri with eyes full of love.

Shirogane tries to overpower Matsuri, but the latter's wind jutsu prevents him from doing so.

Matsuri suddenly reveals a ninja scroll that his grandfather passed down to him in order to defeat Shirogane.

The scroll contains 30 years of his grandfather's powers, allowing Matsuri to use the God-Sealing Barrier jutsu.

Shirogane, on the other hand, uses a gender-swap awakening jutsu to keep Matsuri and Suzu from getting too close at his expense.

Shirogane successfully escapes before the episode ends after transforming Matsuri into a girl with a huge bust!

Unfortunately, Matsuri will have to live as a girl from now on because his grandfather is unable to reverse Shirogane's Gender Swap Awaken Jutsu.
