Here's What Happened Before Ayakashi Triangle Episode 5
Suzu and Matsuri are discussing the other exorcist ninja clans in their area while waiting for the bus.
Apparently, Matsuri's family is not the only exorcist ninja clan in the area, since the Ninokuri clan is also after Shirogane.
At school, Yayo shows Suzu and Lu her new favorite TV show about a young man cursed to live as a Shih-Tzu dog.
She tries to show it to Matsuri, but she trips on a strange ayakashi, and thankfully Matsuri is there to catch her before she falls.
However, Yayo unintentionally becomes too touchy-feely with Matsuri, who tells her bluntly that she doesn't like it.
Matsuri walks away from the group, while Yayo feels bad about what she did.
On the school's rooftop, Suzu decides to talk to Matsuri alone to tell her to be nicer to Yayo.
Matsuri responds that she was always playing nice, except that she doesn't know how to talk to other people because she has never had friends other than Suzu.
But, in the end, Suzu is able to persuade Matsuri to come and talk with Yayo and Lu again in order for them to get to know each other better.
Suzu, after all, doesn't want Matsuri to feel as if she doesn't belong.
Matsuri and Suzu are surprised when Yayo and Lu discover Shirogane in his stray cat form.
While Yayo requests that Matsuri pet Shirogane, Matsuri refuses, leading Yayo to believe that she truly despises her.
Matsuri and Suzu decide to confront Shirogane about his physical appearance.
Shirogane informs them that he used his transformation spell to avoid getting on Ninokuri's nerves because it was the only way he could avoid the ninja's exorcism while at school.
He also tells Matsuri and Suzu that Yayo has been possessed by an ayakashi in exchange for Matsuri saving his life the night before.
Surprisingly, Matsuri missed the ayakashi possessing Yayo because it was inconspicuous and it did not set off his pinwheel.
True enough, Yayo keeps falling over and over, as if she had been distracted all day.
Yayo dismisses the ayakashi because she doesn't see it and focuses on her problem with Matsuri.
Matsuri combines the ash from a burnt talisman with his wind ninja art, Ashen Wind, to reveal the ayakashi.
As expected, Suzu noticed that the ayakashi looked like a small bottle, which caused Yayo to fall down.
But before Matsuri can intervene, Yayo trips over the ayakashi once more and starts falling down the stairs.
Luckily, Matsuri's quick reflexes allowed her to swoop down and save Yayo from serious injury.
Yayo apologizes to Matsuri for getting close and personal again, but Matsuri also apologizes for her cold treatment.
Matsuri also explained herself and expressed her desire for them to get to know each other better.
By the end of the day, Matsuri, Yayo, Suzu, and Lu have decided to start a group chat called Kachofugetsu using the first kanji of their names, while Shirogane is in the care of English teacher Masurao.
Suzu attends the dread ritual organized by Matsuri and his grandfather to return the ayakashi bottle to the mountains at night.
The Kazamaki clan does this for ayakashi, whom they believe are not truly evil.
The following day, Yayo tells the girls that her favorite TV show ended when the young man, cursed to live as a human with a Shih-Tzu face, returned to normal after being kissed by his girlfriend.
While Suzu and Lu find it predictable, Matsuri is unconcerned because she believes it is unthinkable for a boy and girl to kiss before marriage, much to everyone's surprise.
As a result, Suzu is concerned about Matsuri's distorted view of love. She also believes Matsuri is only protecting her and staying by her side out of a sense of duty.
An ayakashi named Ninokuru Ponosuke appears and greets Matsuri, claiming to be Ninokuru Soga's familiar.
Ponosuke also informs Matsuri that he needs to meet with his master to discuss something important.
To Matsuri's surprise, Soga is more concerned with Suzu than Shirogane.
Ponosuke informs Matsuri that a traveling ayakashi informs him that ayakashi mediums in the past were both humans and ayakashi.
Therefore, Soga believes Suzu is a hybrid of the two. Because Suzu is an ayakashi, Soga warns Matsuri that if she becomes a threat to humans, he will exorcise her.
Matsuri grabs Soga's collar and declares that he will not allow this to happen.
As she gets closer, Matsuri's ample chest touches Soga, who becomes conscious of it.
Quickly, Soga and Ponosuke fled before Matsuri could do any harm to his reputation.
Suzu notices that Matsuri has been depressed after speaking with Soga. She suspects it has something to do with Shirogane, but Matsuri assures her that there is nothing to worry about.
Shirogane, who has been struggling to get away from their English teacher, distracts them before Suzu can ask further questions.
At home, Suzu is busy practicing her homemade dangos, which is the only way she can help Matsuri return to normalcy.
She expects to persuade Shirogane to return Matsuri by serving him the best-tasting dangos she can come up with.
Before going to sleep, Suzu thinks about how simple it would be to turn Matsuri back by kissing him, as the girlfriend did to her boyfriend on Yayo’s favorite TV show.
That’s when Suzu gave off a strange green aura, which made Shirogane and Matsuri’s grandfather uneasy.
Meanwhile, Matsuri is unable to concentrate on his manga due to the information he has learned about Soga.
He believes it is impossible for Suzu to become an ayakashi because he has known her since they were children.
Suzu, in fact, has parents, which is why it is such a bizarre idea.
Before the episode ends, Matsuri wakes up in the middle of the night to find Suzu by her side.
Matsuri believes it was not Shirogane who transformed into Suzu because he can feel her warmth and smell her shampoo.
Suzu asks her to let her take care of him as she goes for a kiss on Matsuri's lips, much to Shirogane's surprise, who was watching from the corner.
