After its announcement back in late 2022, the Chainsaw Man stage play finally revealed its main cast, and it features the iconic anime voice actress Aya Hirano as Makima.
Details about the stage play were revealed on the show’s official website and Twitter account.
Info about the cast was listed on the sites, as well as details about the release dates and venues.
Although anime stage adaptations are fairly common, the Chainsaw Man play is no doubt a highly anticipated one given the anime’s popularity as well as its cast.
Iconic Voice Actress Aya Hirano Stars as Makima in Chainsaw Man Stage Play
Even though she may not be that active anymore in the anime industry, Aya Hirano is a legendary voice actress.
Hirano is the voice of Haruhi in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, as well as Lucy Heartfilia in Fairy Tail.
It’s not exactly an anime, but Hirano has been cast as Makima in the Chainsaw Man stage play.
This is an unexpected choice for most fans, though it makes sense given that Hirano is also an accomplished theater actress.
While Hirano is no doubt the highlight of the cast for long-time anime fans, the stage play also revealed the rest of its main cast which include:
- Naotake Tsuchiya as Denji
- Masahide Kuda and Yutaka Nakasone as Chainsaw Man
- Mahiru Coda as Power
- Mizuki Umetsu as Aki Hayakawa
- Aya Hirano as Makima
- Minami Tsukui as Himeno
- Haruki Iwata as Kobeni Higashiyama
- Ko Kanegae as Hirokazu Arai
- Masashi Taniguchi as Kishibe
- Ore no Graffiti as Katana Man
- Shoma Yoshioka as Katana Man (Devil Version)
- Shiori Izawa as Pochita
Given that the play will feature the fight between Chainsaw Man and Katana Man, these characters will have different actors to play their hybrid Devil forms.

Chainsaw Man Stage Play Reveals Release Dates and Venues
While some stage productions are only mounted in one theater (such as the Bocchi the Rock! Live Stage), the Chainsaw Man play will run in Tokyo and Kyoto.
Specifically, the Tokyo run will take place at the Tennozu Galaxy Theater. Meanwhile, the Kyoto run will happen at the Kyoto Theater.
The Tokyo leg will be much longer as it will run from September 16 to October 1, 2023. Meanwhile, the Kyoto leg will only run from October 6 to 9, 2023.
Based on other anime stage productions, there probably won’t be more venues and dates that will be added.
However, a Blu-ray recording of the play will likely be released after the play’s production ends.
Sadly for international fans, it’s highly likely that this will be a Japan-only production.
