Avengers: Infinity War Screenwriters Reveal Why Original Six Weren’t Snapped

While fan-favorite Marvel heroes like Bucky (Sebastian Stan), Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), and Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) were turned into dust when Thanos successfully decimated half of the universe with the use of the Infinity Gauntlet, Marvel kept all of the original six members of the Avengers alive heading into Avengers: Endgame.

Speaking with fans on Twitter during ComicBook.com's Quarantine Watch Party for Infinity War, Marvel screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely reveals why they kept Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America ( Chris Evans), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) alive for Endgame.

The main reason – McFeely and Markus wrote Endgame as an ode to the original six members.

"Largely, yes," the writers wrote on the ComicBook.com Twitter account when asked by a fan whether the reason that the original Avengers were left alive was so that "Endgame could be very much a finale and an ode to these characters?"

While that might seem a bit unfair to the Marvel heroes that do get Snapped in Infinity War, we understand why McFeely and Markus would save the original six for Endgame. The film is supposed to be a culmination of the last ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, the original six have to be a part of the movie.

Besides, the original six didn't have that much screen time in Infinity War. Captain America wasn't in the movie that much, and Iron Man didn't really have that many speaking lines in the movie either.

Avengers: Endgame is available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
