Avengers: Endgame Producer Excited For Diverse Characters Entering The MCU In Phase 4

Marvel Studios has been making big strides in terms of diversity and representation with films like Black Panther and Captain Marvel. Now, as Avengers: Endgame fast approaches its release date, producer Trinh Tran promises fans that Marvel will continue to uphold diversity and representation as it moves on to Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking in an interview with Screen Rant, Trinh Tran was asked about Marvel's plans for the future of the MCU after the conclusion of the MCU. Though the producer couldn't give out specific details of what Marvel has in mind for the franchise, Tran did tease diversification, saying that fans are going to have a better understanding of the MCU's opportunities for representation.

"I think after you watch Avengers: Endgame, you'll know sort of. You'll get a sense of where that ends in a way, and what opportunities we have down the line. All I can say is we have a ton of characters we haven't explored, and I'd love to do them all," Tran shares with the entertainment news outlet, "Especially given that with Captain Marvel's success and the diversity that she brings with the female representation, and with Black Panther and that diversity, it would be great to get more of that out there. Because we have a lot of diverse characters in Marvel."

Tran's comments seem to tease new characters taking over the mantle of Marvel favorites like Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, Chris Evan's Captain America, and Chris Hemsworth's Thor. Undoing Thanos' massacre in Avengers: Endgame isn't going to be easy, and many expect key figures in the franchise to sacrifice themselves to bring back all the lives that were lost in Avengers: Infinity War.

Not only that, but the Marvel contracts of RDJ, Evans, and Hemsworth are all coming to an end. It would only make sense to see someone else take over the hero's mantles. If we take Tran's comments into consideration we could see Riri Williams (Ironheart) taking Iron Man's Place, Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) becoming the new Thor (the same way Jane Foster took over the mantle in Marvel comics), and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) becoming the new Captain Marvel.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
