Avengers: Endgame Directors Talk Doctor Doom Movie And X-Men Character That MCU Should Set Aside

Avengers: Endgame did not just close a chapter for our favorite heroes, but also marked the end of the Russo brothers' time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, they wouldn't hesitate to come back if the Fantastic Four eventually find their way to the MCU.

Joe and Anthony Russo are not closing their doors on directing another Marvel movie. In an interview with Business Insider, they said that they can always find their way back if the right project comes along.

"We love Marvel, we have the most amazing working relationship with them, and we're very close with them. Maybe there will be an idea that comes up in the future, but there is none now," Anthony Russo said.

"It's just about finding the right story that inspires us. That's why we get out of bed every day," Joe Russo added.

For the latter, it is the Fantastic Four, particularly Doctor Doom. "I love Ben Grimm from the Fantastic Four. Doctor Doom was always one of my favorite villains," he gushed.

Joe Russo would also love to be part of bringing Wolverine to the MCU although he knows that with the version played by Hugh Jackman still fresh in people's minds, and that he should be "set aside" for a little while.

It is speculated that the Fantastic Four will soon be introduced in the MCU with Marvel possibly planting the seeds for John Krasinski to play the leader of Marvel's First Family, Reed Richards. So, the duo might be back sooner than fans think. However, for now, it looks like this will be it for them.

"[Avengers: Endgame] was the first Marvel movie we've done where we weren't thinking about the future. There's no future. There will be a future, of course, but it's not our responsibility," Anthony Russo revealed in an interview with USA Today.
