Avengers 4 Might Introduce Anthony Mackie As The New Captain America [Rumor]

Big things are happening in Avengers 4. There have been speculations that the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe flick will be Chris Evans' final appearance as Captain America. However, Steve Rogers' replacement might also be introduced in the sequel.

It was previously reported that Frank Grillo revealed some interesting details about Captain America's future. The Winter Soldier star stated that the new "Captain America could be African American." Naturally, this had people wondering if Marvel Studios is already considering Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson to take over the coveted mantle.

The idea of Sam taking over for Steve is not exactly a new one. After all, the character famously became Captain America when Steve retired in the comics. The former Falcon then became the new leader of the Avengers. Although there is a possibility that the MCU will adopt Sam's comic book storyline, there is also a chance that they might go with a female replacement.

Fans have been theorizing about the future of the MCU. Some believe that a new Big Three will lead the franchise. These three characters will reportedly be the ones who already have a major film attached to their names. The only candidates would be Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel.

So what are the chances that Carol Danvers will be the new Captain to lead the Avengers? We may need to wait until the release of Captain Marvel to see how the character's storyline pans out.

The Avengers 4 official title has yet to be announced. The film is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
