The highly anticipated sequel of James Cameron, Avatar: The Way of Water, just got the numbers in for its preview night and it shows quite a promise that it could reach the projections for its box office weekend, starting its run strong internationally as well.

Avatar: The Way of Water took 13 years to come into fruition and as it finally arrives in theaters, its number continue to show promise especially having to live up to the expectation that the first Avatar movie has set being the then-highest grossing film of all time before Endgame.

As reported by ComicBook.com, the numbers of Avatar: The Way of Water for its preview night shows that it could reach its box office projections for its opening weekend which is at $150 million. So far, the sequel has brought in $17 million for its preview night alone.

With Avatar: The Way of Water arriving in theaters earlier in other countries, its global release is currently with a box office return of $86 million. Adding the numbers up, it is already more than a third of the projected box office weekend numbers.

In comparison, the first Avatar movie didn't even reach a third of the current preview night numbers of Avatar: The Way of Water. Back then, the preview night numbers of Avatar was just $3.5 million only, and that was a time when the title was totally new to everyone.

Whether Avatar: The Way of Water could beat the total box office numbers of Avatar still remains unknown but with the preview night numbers alone, it just shows that the sequel is off to a great start.

Directed by James Cameron, Avatar: The Way of Water will provide a new perspective on Pandora as it takes everyone into a different part of the place and introduce new characters with the returning ones.
