Avatar: The Last Airbender Live-Action Series Casts Raya and the Last Dragon Star as Mai

The cast of the Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series just got bigger. Raya and the Last Dragon star Thalia Tran has just been confirmed to join the highly anticipated Netflix show as Fire Nation noble Mai, rounding out the awesome Team Azula trio!

According to Avatar News, Thalia Tran will be joining the Avatar: The Last Airbender series. The Raya and the Last Dragon actor has reportedly been cast as Mai, who was an important part of Team Azula but also the ex-girlfriend of Zuko. With Mai finally part of the show, we can expect to see Team Azula in full force in the Netflix adaptation.

It was recently confirmed that Momona Tamada will portray Ty Lee. Together with Tran and Elizabeth Yu as the cold-hearted Princess Azula, Team Azula is finally complete and are expected to play a major role in the new Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation.

Team Azula was formed by the princess in an effort to capture Prince Zuko and Iroh as well as taking the Avatar. Their first task together was the exchange of King Bumi for Mai's little brother Tom-Tom but he team disbanded after Mai and Ty Lee betrayed Azula at the Boiling Rock.

Avatar: The Last Airbender will also star Gordon Cormier as Aang, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai. They will be joined by Maria Zhang as Suki, Yvonne Chapman as Kyoshi, Casey Camp-Horinek as Kanna and Tamlyn Tomita as Yukari, a completely new character.

The new series has not yet been given an official release date. However, production has just wrapped and we could be getting news soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
