Avatar Actor Stephen Lang Wants To Play Howling Commandos Comic’s Version Of Nick Fury

It looks like screen and stage actor Stephen Lang is hoping to play the original Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking in an interview with Screen Rant, the Avatar star revealed his all-time favorite Marvel comic book series, Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos , saying that Fury had been a "great influence" on him when he was much younger and that he wants to be that specific version of the character.

"My favorite Comic Book of all the Marvel series, was always Sargent Fury and His Howling Commandos. I friggin' loved Sargent Fury's Howling Commandos and to me it was always like, I want to be Nick Fury."

While Marvel comic book fans would love to see Nick Fury from his days as the head of the elite soldiers, the Howling Commandos, in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, it seems unlikely that Lang will be given a chance to play Fury at this point in the development of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Samuel L. Jackson already has the character, first appearing as Nick Fury in the original Iron Mani movie. Based on the Ultimate version of the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., the character has made several appearances in the MCU.

Jackson is set to reprise his role as Nick Fury in Avengers: Infinity War which premieres on May 4, 2018.
