The Witcher Author Thinks Upcoming Netflix Series Could be a Masterpiece

Netflix's The Witcher recently got its first trailer and everyone seemed to love it, thanks to a distinct visual style and some cool special effects. We now know that the series is coming out on December 20 so it should be an excellent pre-holiday gift for fans of the game and/or the books. It seems like Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the original Witcher books, is pretty happy since he saw the trailer and thinks it's going to be a "masterpiece."

Speaking with Wired (translated by Redanian Intelligence), Sapkowski has admitted to not seeing any of the episodes yet but feels like if the series can match the excellent tone of the trailer, we could be in for one of Netflix's best shows. When you consider just how good these video games are, fans probably have a lot of expectations since they are excellent.

"Yesterday I witnessed for the first time the screening of the trailer of The Witcher series, together with the fans. I didn't even see the pilot episode because I like being surprised. But I can say one thing: if the series will be as beautiful as the trailer, we will have a masterpiece."

He seems pretty excited for the series and, honestly, who wouldn't be? It looks really good thus far and should be one of the best video game adaptations out there. If the series is half as good as Castlevania, this should be another great video game adaptation, which will hopefully lead to more of them.

The Witcher will be coming to Netflix on December 20.
