Netflix's The Witcher Already Has 7 Seasons Mapped Out

It will still be a long wait for The Witcher but it looks like the series is here to stay. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has just confirmed that there are at least seven seasons being planned out for the upcoming Netflix show.

Hissrich recently spoke to SFX (via Comicbook.com) where she confirmed that the stories she planned for The Witcher go beyond the first season. In fact, she's already preparing for seven seasons.

"I've [mapped out stories] for seven seasons," Hissrich admitted. "Right now it's just about, ‘how do you set up stories that really capture audiences for years at a time?' The worst thing we could do is put all of our energies just into season one, and not be thinking about where these characters can grow to."

It's an interesting move considering that Netflix is quite notorious at cancelling shows after only two or three seasons. Nevertheless, Hissrich seems confident that the series could last longer than the others. Besides, it's not like she'll run out of content to work with if she focuses on adapting Andrzej Sapkowski's books.

The Witcher will star Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter whose destiny brings him to work with a young princess and a beautiful sorceress. The series also stars Freya Allen as Princess Ciri and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Are you ready for The Witcher (and its seven seasons)? The show will premiere on Netflix on December 20.
